Introduction

The Centre for Research in Industry 4.0 (CRI4.0), founded by Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor, represents Universiti Malaya’s strategic commitment to advancing the nation’s readiness for the sweeping transformations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0). As one of UM’s distinguished research centres, CRI4.0 aspires to be the authoritative voice in the field, elevating Malaysia’s R&D ecosystem and strengthening the country’s technological resilience.

Led by our Director, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Ridha bin Muhamad, the centre works closely with industry partners to build impactful platforms that seamlessly connect academia with industrial needs. Through these collaborations, we empower organisations to adopt IR4.0 technologies, enhance operational efficiency, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Beyond providing thought leadership, CRI4.0 is committed to nurturing talent and developing the essential expertise required to drive national IR4.0 initiatives. We also play an advisory role to government agencies and key stakeholders, ensuring coherent and informed policy directions in this emerging domain.

To amplify our impact, we foster collaborative networks with local and international institutions, enabling knowledge exchange and accelerating technology adoption across sectors. In addition, we actively support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by guiding them through the practical implementation of IR4.0 solutions, contributing to sustainable industry growth and national economic advancement.
